Kakani- Ranipouwa- Jagare hike, is one of the easy short, non-touristic, and less crowded hike with excellent Himalayan viewpoints. Jagare, a tiny settlement with spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, lustrous pine, and rhododendron forest.
The hike will be organized in between the greeneries in the peaceful surroundings throughout. It is one of the best ways to explore a typical Nepali lifestyle as well.
People are found working their farmlands, some grazing their cattle, growing different sorts of vegetables that seem it is away from the bustling lifestyle of Kathmandu.
People amaze and get refreshed seeing the fresh greeneries, glittering Langtang Himal range, Ganesh Himal ranges, Manaslu, Annapurna, Fishtail, Dorjelakpa, etc. with a clear blue sky.
Throughout the hike, as you are walking in the middle of the jungle via well-marked trekking routes. So, no vehicle disturb you and you can fully enjoy the trip. Kakani is famous for growing Himalayan trout fish as well.
The day hike begins from Ranipouwa after two hours’ drive from Kathmandu. The trail is gradual upward initially reaching the top of the hill via dense pine woodlands.
After having the packed lunch at the hilltop, with the spectacular views of the surroundings and aerial views of snow-capped peaks, the trail leads you to a downward arriving Jagare village where your vehicle awaits to drive back to Kathmandu following the same route you drove earlier, Kathmandu-Nuwakot highway.
If you are eager to trek in the non-touristic, quitter area via lustrous greeneries of pine forests with the perfect views, this hike probably is a perfect choice. On the clearer day, hikers can experience greater views of mountain peaks, and other sceneries even better than Nagarkot and Dhulikhel.

One of the core attractions of your hike, Ranipouwa is the headquarters of Kakani rural municipality situates at 1812m above sea level. An antique trade point Ranipouwa was used by the traders from Kathmandu, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa before the establishment of the highway.
What’s more, it offers excellent views of the giant Himalayan peaks from Langtang to Dorge Lakpa. Stopping the vehicle aside, you can spend a couple of minutes snapping the surroundings in your cameras before beginning the journey.
Residence of Brahmin, Gurung, Newar, Dalit, Tamang, this village is a perfect example of harmony in diversity. They perform different agricultural activities, animal husbandry along with self-reliance in agriculture and for the development of agriculture tourism, especially Rambo Trout fish, kiwi, and stripe production and marketing.
