   But, be aware to take the right sizes of the khukuri as the large ones are not permitted to take abroad.

   Nepal is a secular country where the people of 126 castes and ethnic groups reside on a common place with their distinct cultures, languages and belief systems. Such diversity makes our country remarkable to look at in all respects.

Things to know before coming to Nepal

1. ‘Namaste’ is the common greeting word, which roughly means ‘hello’. In your accent, it may sound pretty good to listen to.
2. Nepalese are familiar with the western wears. So, you don’t have to panic if your costume reflects Westernism.
3. In Nepalese culture, touching a woman or holy man (especially among Hindus) is not considered good although some of the women are comfortable with handshakes and hugs. Therefore, it is always better to avoid direct touch and instead greet one another with ‘namaste’ joining your palm in a clapping gesture.
4. Remember to open your shoes before entering anyone’s house or religious sites. Most importantly, avoid smoking in religious settings and keep in mind that some of the sites may be prohibited to visit for non-Hindus.
5. Most of the Nepalese prefer to eat their meals with their hand. So, make sure not to give a detesting expression even if you don’t feel that good.
6. Buying or using drugs is illegal in Nepal. So, you know what not to do, right?
7. Don’t showcase physical contact with your partner in the public places.
8. If you want to thank someone, ‘Dhanyabad’ might have a good impression on people. However, saying ‘thanks’ is also comfortably interpreted.
9. Check not to violate the Nation’s law by any means. If your visit is intended for just travel and sightseeing, there are no specific policies to hang on with.
