Early in the morning, we’ll board a flight bound to Lukla. This 35 minutes short yet scenic flight will take us across picturesque landscapes showcasing verdant valley, sparkling river, lush woodlands, green hills, and snow-covered summits.
After we land at Lukla, we’ll commence our trekking venture and walk along the Dudh Koshi River on the well-marked trail which progresses across the villages of Chheplung (2,700m) and Ghat (2,590m) to Phakding (2,652m).
En route, we can observe spectacular Mani walls and green terrain with the enchanting outlooks of Mt. Khumbila (5,761m), Mt. Nupla (5,885m), and Mt. Kusum Kanguru (6,367m).
Adjacent to the banks of the raging Dudh Koshi River, we’ll push ourselves further beyond the pine woods, several suspension bridges, and beautiful Sherpa villages of Zapote, Toktok, Benkar, and Chumoa to arrive at Monjo, the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park.
Dedicated to the conservation and protection of Khumbu Region’s fragile mountain ecosystem; Sagarmatha National Park is a natural UNESCO world heritage site since 1979 A.D. we’ll then traverse Jhorsalle village and a few suspension bridges to initiate a final but steep ascent to Namche Bazaar.
About halfway up the slope, there is a spot with the remains of a long inoperative teahouse beside the trail that bestows some initial glimpse of Mt. Everest (8,848m) tugged in between Mt. Lhotse (8,516m) and Mt. Nuptse (7,861m) if the weather is clear.
The settlement of Namche Bazaar is often referred to as “The Sherpa Capital” because of its position as the commercial hub of the Khumbu Region. Dominated by the snow-clad peaks of Thamserku (6,623m) to the east and Kongde Ri (6,187m) to the west; this lovely town harbors many modern facilities such as internet cafes, bakery, banks, ATMs, and outlets of medical supplies, warm clothing, and Tibetan souvenirs.
If you are short on pieces of equipment then you can buy or rent the second-hand equipment left over from previous summit expeditions. But keep in mind that, the price of commodities is high in higher altitudes. After exploring the village; we’ll proceed ahead for a short hike to the pristine village of Khumjung (3,790m). The pathway navigates across the mountainous countryside unveils the splendor of the upper valley.
Not only the Mt. Everest reveals itself from Nuptse-Lhotse Ridge but even better, we can gaze at the graceful Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812m) and its neighboring peaks such as Khumbila (5,761m), Nupla (5,885m), and Kusum Kanguru (6,367m).
Following a descent to Namche Bazaar from Khumjung, we’ll resume our trek to Lukla. As we climb down beyond the suspension bridges and farmlands; we’ll come across pinewoods and rhododendron forest.
Subsequently, we’ll make it past a handful of Sherpa settlements to the final destination of our blissful trekking journey. On the way back, we’ll be constantly perused by the breathtaking view of the snow-capped Himalayas.
This very day, we’ll step abroad on the scheduled flight to Kathmandu Airport. The flight may be interrupted by bad climatic conditions so we might have to wait for appropriate weather.
Once we land at Kathmandu, you can rest and relax rejoicing in the amenities offered by your hotel. Alternatively, you can stroll around the vivid marketplaces, clicking pictures, or buying souvenirs for your friends and family back home.
