We are constantly in the search of experience to convey us out of our hectic life where we tend to become busy as a bee, and each day in Nepal bring forth plentiful opportunities to accomplish just that. Relatively a small country sandwiched between two giant neighbours; Nepal has the lion’s share of natural and cultural diversity in its collection. These go ahead with two paramount cities, which possess a whopping proportion of Nepal’s natural beauty, its culture, and hospitable nature. An odyssey to these wonderful regions of Nepal leads travel enthusiasts to the sense of wonder it inspires.
The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu along with the surrounding valley was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979 A.D.; within which, a total of seven monuments and buildings illustrate its glorious history and traditional heritage. The valley comprises three sister cities i.e. Lalitpur, Kathmandu, and Bhaktapur. Each city is home to spectacular Durbar Square Complexes that embraces splendid architecture, classic culture, heritage, and spirituality. Affluent with beauty and cultural remarkableness, the classical city of Bhaktapur and Lalitpur is swarming with ancient artworks and carvings composed of wood, stone and metal. Further, Kathmandu city flaunts the magnificent Pashupatinath Temple, the most sacred Hindu Temple devoted to mighty deity Lord Shiva. In addition, the sacred Buddhist Stupa of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath is ancient architecture marvel functioning as the centre of Spirituality. Second to none, it is the best idea to stay for a while in these charming places and become drenched in its atmosphere.
Positioned in the Terai lowland of Southern Nepal; Chitwan harbours the Chitwan and Bardiya National Parks where you can witness wilderness at your doorstep. We have no specifics plans for this day; but, if you feel like strolling around, then the tourist hub of Thamel is the best place to enroll in. Otherwise, you may as well go to see Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is just 30 mins away from Thamel by foot.
Kathmandu is a city of arts and architectures. No matter how stone-cold person you think you are, the antique pieces, displayed around the vendors, are sure to melt your heart away with pleasure. Throughout the city, there are countless temples and historical edifices, each of which is decorated with the delicate carvings of godly images that propel a vibe of spiritual serenity. 7 of these total heritages inside the Kathmandu valley is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Firstly, we will go to see the Patan Durbar Square (ancient Royal Palace built in the 12th century), which is one of the oldest mansions in the Kathmandu valley. This mansion is decorated with the fine window carvings, and the fences are uniquely aligned in a slanted position. What’s more, the walls are full of paintings, and the pillars depict the images of Hindu deities. It is amazingly beautiful. Near to the Patan, there is a golden temple, whose outer walls and roofs are plated with gold. Both of these edifices are marvelous in itself.
Swayambhunath, on the other hand, is one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites, whose existence is entirely based on myth. From the hilltop of where this temple is located, we can see the overall Kathmandu valley: dotted with endless settlements. This is an incredibly beautiful glimpse. Like Swayambhunath, Boudhanath is also one of the most revered Buddhist Shrines in the world. It is famous for its massive mandala and its dome-like structure that made it one of the largest unique stupas in the world. Near the periphery of this stupa, there are many other chaityas as well, which are small in size but equal in importance.
Perhaps, the last visit of this day will be Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the four important shrines of Lord Shiva in the world. Inside the periphery of this temple, there are many little sanctums, each of which consists of a Shiva lingam. The roof of the main temple is plated with gold and the walls with other minerals. Above all, the extreme faith that the visitors show towards the mighty Lord Shiva makes this temple one of the most beautiful shrines in the world.
Early in the morning, we will eat some breakfast and then, move towards Chitwan by private vehicle. This is a wonderful trip.
As compared to Kathmandu, Chitwan is hot, and you will find drastic changes in the landscapes as well. The people living in Chitwan are generally of dark complexion, which is because of over-exposure to sunlight. While Tharus are the indigenous inhabitants of Chitwan, Brahmins, Chhetris and other ethnic groups are widely distributed throughout the Terai Belt (including Chitwan).
By the time we have arrived in Chitwan, it would have been late afternoon. we will go for a short village walk in the buffer zone (restricted forest area outside the arena of Chitwan National Park). From the bank of the Rapti River, we can witness a brilliant sunset view. Also, on the other banks, we could see Gharials and Muggers, playing with the muddy soil.
Our accommodation will be in one of the lodges in Chitwan, generally in Hotel Parkland, which is an amazing place.
Today is an exciting day, full of surprises. All the activities that we do on this day are associated with nature; in other words, we are going for natural exploration.
First, we will go for a canoe ride (in the river of Rapti), which is a wonderful opportunity to witness the water animals and some reptiles: particularly Gharial and Mugger, basking in the muddy bank of the river. There is also a nature walk included in this package, during which a naturalist will accompany you to explain about the place and creatures, which you will encounter on the way. You will also go to see the Elephant Breeding Center, which is Asia’s first breeding center.
After lunch, a bunch of activities is yet to be done. We will go for an elephant safari (1hour 30mins) or a Jeep safari (4hours) that will take us deep into the woods to see an amazing variety of wildlife, including one-horned rhinoceros, Bear, Deer, leopard, and Royal Bengal Tiger (if lucky). While the elephant can enter into the denser part of the forest, Jeeps only travel in the place, where there is a road: mostly around the buffer zone. If you want to do both, then you will have to pay extra for that.
Following the forest exploration, you will return, and if the time favors, we will also go for an elephant bathing. In the evening, there is a special cultural show, which is performed by the local Tharus at the cultural center. As I said earlier, this package is, indeed, full of surprises.
After having a light breakfast, we will return to Kathmandu via the same route that we have traversed earlier.
Finally, the day has come to say goodbye to all the amazing friends and people, you have met during the trip. If you want to try out any other adventures while in Nepal, then we are ready to help you out. Always be in touch with us.
